O’Connell and Aronowitz is one of the area’s oldest law firms, having first opened its doors with two attorneys in 1925. Since that time, the firm has grown to over 30 attorneys and is one of the Capital Region’s largest full service firms, with offices in both Albany and Plattsburgh.

Health Law at O’Connell and Aronowitz
The Health Law practice of O’Connell & Aronowitz is nationwide in scope, and is almost exclusively devoted to the representation of health care and social services providers. We also represent many national and state-wide provider trade associations. Our clients include hospitals, nursing homes, clinical laboratories, home health care agencies, adult care and assisted living facilities, diagnostic and treatment centers, behavioral health providers, DME and respiratory suppliers, physician practices, ancillary health care practitioners and other providers.
Our attorneys actively represent clients in all types of healthcare litigation at the state and federal level. This includes complex Medicare, Medicaid and private payer audits, fraud and abuse, false payments and business litigation. We also represent providers in professional discipline and regulatory enforcement proceedings before all federal and state licensing and regulatory agencies.
Our transactional practice is also extensive, assisting in for-profit and non-profit enterprise development, corporate formation, development of senior housing, financing, licensure, mergers and acquisitions and real estate matters. Our attorneys frequently serve as General Counsel, as well as specialized compliance or reimbursement counsel. We provide compliance training for Boards of Directors and staff, and are active in health care policy development.
Our attorneys have been instrumental in precedent-setting federal and state litigation, including that they have successfully represented the hospital industry in two appeals before the United States Supreme Court.
